Razor

You paint your face
As I watch in the mirror
And you smile
Look behind you
And wave
Arms around your waist
I pull you nearer
But I know
That I’ll let go
To shave

So I said
With a hint of suspicion
What’d you do
In those shoes
Yesterday
Looking in your eyes
For lies and alibis
You turn away

Now our trust
Fights a war of attrition
For our pride
And I try
To discern
But every time we talk
All your words give
Occam’s Razor Burn.

Realize
The sun will rise
And words could be true
Rest your weary head
And settle in the bed
I made for you

And rain falls down around us
Into the rivers and the oceans
Under the rocks and stones erosion flows
And it cracks the ground beneath us

And jealousy once planted
Feeds on the faces of emotions
Reaches the root of all devotion
And breaks the bonds between us

But I will trust in you
If you will trust in me

Realize
The sun will rise
And words could be true
Rest your weary head
And settle in the bed
I made for you

And rain falls down around us
Into the rivers and the oceans
Under the rocks and stones erosion flows
And it cracks the ground beneath us

And jealousy once planted
Feeds on the faces of emotions
Reaches the root of all devotion
And breaks the bonds between us

But I will trust in you
If you will trust in me
And I will say to you
That love can set us free
